Based on Liszt's two-piano arrangement of Norma's Memories, the work reinterprets the contemporary meaning of classical music and explores the eternal themes of love and sacrifice through the in-depth integration of multimedia moving images and music.
The musical material is derived from Bellini's opera Norma, whose dramatic and emotional depth provides a rich source of inspiration for the visual expression of the work. Liszt's piano arrangements construct a complex and emotionally charged musical narrative in the form of two pianos, while multimedia visual art attempts to give concrete form to this narrative on stage, turning invisible sounds into perceptible images, and constructing a multi-dimensional immersive experience.
The visual expression mainly uses the interaction between projection and stage lighting, through the flow of light and shadow, the transformation of colors, and the hierarchical design of moving images, showing the conflict between nature and human nature in the original work of Norma. The ups and downs of light and shadow simulate the breathing of nature, such as the ever-changing imagery of forests, starry skies, and moonlight, symbolizing the tension of emotions and the impermanence of fate.
This tension is further strengthened by stage lighting, and the light and shade changes closely echo the rhythm of the music, which is not only an extension of the emotion of the music, but also a deconstruction and reorganization of its inner strength. At the same time, the moving image does not simply follow the music, but dialogues with it in a dialectical way: at some moments, the image is still in the intense passages of the music, but instead amplifies the conflict of emotions; At other moments, the video transcends the narrative thread of the music and gives the viewer more room for interpretation.
The work is not only a tribute to the classics, but also a philosophical exploration of how sound and sight can permeate and complement each other, ultimately creating a holistic art that transcends a single sensory experience. The linear time of music is disassembled and reconstructed visually, and the audience experiences the tension and depth of music surrounded by light and shadow, as if walking through the boundary between emotion and nature. The work aims to evoke the viewer's reflection on the themes of love and sacrifice, while exploring the infinite possibilities of artistic expression through the fusion of sound and vision.
